First Colony Path

Six practical lessons for planning a first Neocaridina colony. Each message gives you one decision, one action and the reviewed guides behind it.

What arrives

1. Choose the colony outcome before the equipment
   Write one sentence describing the colony you want the tank to support.
2. Verify nitrogen processing instead of counting tank age
   Record the nitrogen method, reporting basis, result and time, not only a claim that the tank is cycled.
3. Build habitat by function
   Identify the intake guard, water movement and three conditioned grazing surfaces in the planned tank.
4. Compare water without treating TDS as chemistry
   Create a side-by-side source and receiving-water record, including the method and units for each measurement.
5. Choose a source and keep it separate
   Plan a commissioned separate system and dedicated wet equipment before choosing a shipment date.
6. Make the first colony record before making a diagnosis
   Start a tank card and decide which observations you will record consistently during the first month.
