A selected wild brood count is not a colony forecast

The evidence library is allowed to change in public. This page preserves the revised boundary, why it moved and which guides were affected.

What changed

The breeding guide now includes a full-method 2006 field comparison with direct brood counts, sampled egg volumes, reproductive output and monthly gonad measurements for N. denticulata denticulata.

Why it changed

The 43 brood-count females were selected because they were already ovigerous and came from one preserved wild Korean population. A separate cross-sectional ovary comparison supports rematuration during embryo development, but no female was followed through hatch and another spawning. The results cannot predict a captive N. davidi clutch, establish a May aquarium season or promise consecutive broods.

Affected practical guides
