Colony Passport

A tank card says what a colony looks like today. A passport says where it came from, and who has kept it since. Free, and it works for shrimp from any seller including ours and including our competitors.

This records what you say, and shows the basis for each part. It is not an identification, a pedigree, a health certificate or a promise about what the offspring will look like. Nobody in this hobby can give you those from a form, and a record that pretended to would be worth less than nothing.

What it does give you: one permanent address for a colony's history, that you can hand to whoever you pass shrimp on to.

What it is

What you maintain it as Your working name for the line. A trade name is fine. What it was sold to you as Recorded separately, because a seller's label is their claim, not an identification.

Closest line we track For grouping only. It does not assert species or ancestry.

Where it came from

Origin Who from

When you got them Generation Unknown is the honest answer for most bought stock.

Parent passport If whoever you got them from has a passport, put its id here and the chain links up.

Grade and water

Grade you would give it Recorded against grade standard v0.1, draft, so it still means something after the standard changes. Read it.

Water as a range, not one reading. A single number is a moment, and what a receiving keeper needs is the band the animals actually live in.

How much this proves

Every passport starts at self declared. The keeper entered this themselves. Nobody else has checked any of it. This is a record of what someone says, not a verification of species, ancestry, grade or health.

There are higher levels designed, and none of them is available, because the processes that would earn them do not exist yet. When peer review and a verified marketplace exist, a passport will be able to carry those. Until then a badge for them would be a badge for nothing.
